• APPLICATION DATA

  Application method: Brush, roller, or airless sprayer. Spraying should be done by professionals.

  Thinner / cleaning agent: Water

  Recommended coverage: 8-10 m2 / liter

  Drying: (23°C, 50% relative humidity)

  Dust dry: 1 hour

  Recoat interval, min: 6 hours.

  Full adhesion: achieved after 4 weeks of curing. Varies with changes in temperature, humidity, ventilation, and film thickness. Minimum application temp. °C: +15. For best results, apply at room temperature.

  Guidance data for airless sprayer:

  • Nozzle: 0.021", 0.53 mm
  • Spray angle: 65-80°
  • Paint pressure: 150 kg/cm2
  • Corrosion: All equipment that comes into contact with Gjøco Knot and Barrier Primer must be made of stainless steel, otherwise the metal may corrode.

  INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

  Pre-treatment: The surface must be clean and dry. Clean with Gjøco Interior Wash or Gjøco Floor Cleaner. Follow the instructions for use on the packaging. Previously painted surfaces, MDF, and hard, smooth surfaces should be sanded down and wiped clean.

  
  

  Application

  For use on lightly discolored and yellowed substrates, apply 1–2 coats of Gjøco Knot and Barrier Primer. To remove knot bleed-through and on heavily discolored surfaces, apply 2 coats. On substrates where a smooth and even surface is required, it is recommended to use a suitable brush for leveling. When using on tiles, plastic, and other glossy surfaces, check adhesion by performing a test coat.

  Cleaning of painting tools:

  All painting tools must be clean and free from other paint residues and the like before use. All tools must be cleaned well with clean water immediately after use. This applies especially when using airless sprayers. Flush through large amounts of water before and after use to ensure the sprayer is completely clean. Gjøco Knot and Barrier Primer can cause corrosion on metal that is not stainless.

  Storage

  Close the lid tightly during paint storage to prevent spills and drying out. The paint should be transported and stored upright, dry, and frost-free.

  Waste disposal:

  Paint in liquid form should not be poured into drains or nature, but taken to a recycling station for hazardous waste.

  OTHER INFORMATION

  Gjøco Knot and Barrier Primer is ready for use and should normally not be thinned. Stir before use. To avoid cracking along panel joints due to changes in humidity, it is recommended that the panel boards are treated before installation. Alternatively, the panel can be treated in winter when humidity is normally at its lowest.

With JOTUN Knot and Barrier Primer, you get both knot sealer and primer in one single coat. Even the best topcoats depend on good preparation. Regardless of whether the paneling is new or old, the knots need to be sealed before overpainting; otherwise, the moisture in the paint will cause the resins in untreated knots to bleed through. When knots bleed through, you get discolorations in the paint film and yellow knot bleed-through, which is undesirable on freshly painted paneling. With JOTUN Knot and Barrier Primer, you seal the knots from the substrate and ensure good adhesion for the paint. This makes your painting work easier.

Water-borne barrier primer based on modified epoxy resin. For indoor use. Water-borne, matte, white, barrier primer for indoor use.

Properties and benefits: The product reduces the risk of bleed-through from knots, yellowed paneling, soot, nicotine, marker, and other water- and oil-soluble pigments. Knot bleed-through is, however, a natural phenomenon that can occur over time despite treatment.

Field of application: Has good adhesion to difficult substrates such as tiles, plastic, and metal in dry rooms.
