Herregård Arctic is a waterborne hybrid paint for exterior house siding, using unique technology that makes the paint color and gloss stable over a long period in a tough climate. The product has a surface that is dirt-repellent with self-cleaning properties. Used on exterior new, old, stained, painted, or pressure-treated wood. Must be used in a system with Gjöco Oil Primer. Herregård Arctic can also be used as a topcoat on primed metal and plastic such as gutters, fittings, and similar elements on buildings.
USAGE DATA
Application method: Brush and roller. Spraying is recommended for professionals only.
Thinning/cleaning agent: Water, clean with soap and water
Rec. Film thickness, wet: 90–110 micrometers
Rec. Film thickness, dry: 40–50 micrometers
Guideline data for high-pressure spray:
Consumption: Rough wood approx. 6–8 m2/liter, planed wood approx. 8–12 m2/liter
Drying time: (23 °C, 50% R.H.): Depends on temperature, humidity, wind, and film thickness. Do not paint if there is a risk of dew or rain before the paint film is dry.
Dust dry: 0.5 hours
Recoating interval, minimum: 2 hours
Minimum application temp. + 5°C Temperature of air and substrate should be above +5°C
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Pre-treatment
The substrate must be clean and dry. On new and bare wood as well as pressure-treated wood, apply 1 coat of Gjøco Oil Primer. New wood that has been left untreated for more than 4 weeks should be cleaned and wire-brushed before treatment with Gjøco Oil Primer. All wood ends/cut surfaces must be well saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, 3–4 coats wet-on-wet. Previously treated surfaces should be cleaned with Gjøco Power Wash. Loose paint/stain flakes and wood fibers are removed by wire brushing/scraping. On planed wood, side edges of exterior siding, and other glossy surfaces, wire brushing/sanding may be required to ensure adhesion. To achieve the best possible edge coverage, round off sharp edges before priming.
Priming
On new, untreated, bare, factory-treated, or impregnated wood, apply one coat of Gjøco Oil Primer. End grain and cut surfaces should be well saturated with Gjøco Oil Primer, 3–4 applications wet-on-wet.
Application
On new untreated wood, apply 2 coats, and on new planed wood, apply 3 coats. On previously treated wood, apply 1–2 coats as needed, or up to 3 coats on planed wood.
Storage
The product must be transported and stored upright, in a dry and frost-free place.
Waste management
Liquid paint should not be poured into drains or the environment but must be delivered to an approved receiver of hazardous waste.
OTHER INFORMATION
Different production numbers should be mixed before use to avoid differences in gloss and color. The substrate must be solid, clean, and dry before the paint is applied. Substrates previously treated with linseed oil paint/stain may cause blistering. Previous treatment with tar can lead to discoloration, which is particularly visible in light colors. Dew on semi-dry surfaces can cause dull spots. Direct sunlight on a wet or semi-dry surface can cause surface drying and blistering. Do not use on a frosty substrate. Painting on fire-retardant surfaces can cause salt efflorescence and peeling. The product should not be diluted or added to other oils/paint products. Bases are tintable with GjøcoMix. The application temperature of the air and the substrate must be at least +5°C. Packaging sizes: 2.7 and 9 liters.
