Description
Beckers Mineral Silicate Paint is an opaque paint for previously silicate-painted or unpainted surfaces. The paint is used on lime-cement plaster, cement plaster, concrete, lightweight concrete, fiber cement, fiber-reinforced mineral boards, and on old mineral and silicate paints. In addition to providing a clean and beautiful surface, it also protects against moisture damage.

Surface preparation
NEW SURFACES:
Clean unpainted surfaces of dirt, loose particles, and salts. Concrete element surfaces can be painted once the construction moisture has evaporated. Form-cast concrete surfaces should be treated mechanically, e.g., by sandblasting or water blasting, for best adhesion and to remove cement laitance. Newly plastered surfaces should be treated no earlier than 6–8 weeks after curing.
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:
Do not paint on organic substrates. Organic paints and coatings must be completely removed using a suitable method, e.g., paint stripper, high-pressure washing, sandblasting, or water blasting. The working method is chosen based on the condition of the substrate and the type of paint. Use appropriate protective equipment.
REPAIRS:
Cracks and defects in the structure must be repaired before painting. The repaired areas should be similar to the surrounding surface in quality and appearance. Open up cracks and cavities and repair with a suitable repair mortar, i.e., a mortar that is not as hard as the substrate. Poorly bonded plaster must be removed and replastered with the same material and to the same structure as the original. Allow the surfaces to cure before painting.
Painting
DENSE SURFACES, PRIMING:
Dense, solid, and hard surfaces should be primed once with a mixture of Beckers Silicate Binder and Beckers Silicate Paint in a 1:2 ratio. DENSE SURFACES,
FINISH PAINTING:
Finish painting is performed after the primer has dried for at least 12 hours using Beckers Silicate Paint, which can be thinned with a maximum of 10% water.
POROUS SURFACES, PRIMING:
Porous, absorbent substrates should be primed with a mixture of Beckers Silicate Binder and water in a 1:1 ratio.
POROUS SURFACES, INTERMEDIATE COAT:
The intermediate coat is applied after the primer has dried for at least 12 hours. For the intermediate coat, Beckers Silicate Paint can be thinned with a maximum of 10% Beckers Silicate Binder.
POROUS SURFACES, FINISH PAINTING:
Finish painting is performed after the intermediate coat has dried for at least 12 hours. For finish painting, Beckers Silicate Paint can be thinned with a maximum of 10% water.
Important
The surface to be painted must be clean and solid; the air and surface temperature must be at least +5°C, and the relative humidity below 80%. Do not paint on sun-heated surfaces or when there is a risk of heavy or prolonged rain. Stir the Silicate Paint thoroughly before use. NOTE: Surfaces not to be painted, e.g., window glass, natural stone and clinker cladding on the facade, as well as metal surfaces, must be well protected during the painting work. Paint splashes should be removed immediately with clean water. Reserve a sufficient quantity of paint from the same production batch for painting a uniform surface. You will then avoid possible shade differences. If you must use different batches, paint the joint with a mixture of the new and old batch (e.g., 1:1). Plan your work so that the joint is in an inconspicuous place.
