Product description
Preparation of surfacesEnsure the surface is in good condition before painting by washing with Beckers Utomhustvätt (Exterior Wash) and using Beckers Alg & Mögeltvätt (Algae & Mold Wash) if necessary. Brush/scrape away loose or cracked paint layers and porous/grayed wood. Roughen sharp corners and glossy/planed surfaces with coarse sandpaper. For new painting, treat end grain, nail heads, and joints with Primex Grundolja Trä Plus (Wood Primer Oil Plus) before the entire facade is primed with Perfekt Trägrund Plus (Wood Primer Plus). When repainting surfaces in poor condition, all surfaces should be primed with Primex Trägrund Plus; this also applies to the repainting of alkyd and oil-based surfaces.
PAINTING ON INDUSTRIAL PRIMED PANELS:
Panels purchased pre-primed with Pinja Protect from Tikkurila Sverige AB can be considered to have adequate primary protection. We recommend treatment with 2 coats of topcoat using Perfekt Fasad Plus. Note, however, that pre-primed panels exposed to weather and wind for more than 10 months need to be primed to ensure full protection.
Paint
Finish paint the facade with 2 coats of Perfekt Fasad Plus. Paint generously; see our instructions on paint usage. Also paint end grain, joints, and nail heads carefully. When using a roller or sprayer, we recommend using a brush to smooth out the paint afterward. Recommended coverage: Sawn panels: 6-7 m²/l (Wet film thickness: 130-160 µm; Dry film thickness: 50-60 µm) Planed or previously painted panels: 7-8 m²/l (Wet film thickness: 110-140 µm; Dry film thickness: 40-50 µm). On planed panels or previously painted surfaces, it can be difficult to apply enough paint. If the layers are thinner than recommended, an additional coat should be applied to achieve the best durability.
When you have finished painting
Care instructions
Rinse the facade with clean cold water. Apply Beckers Utomhustvätt, diluted according to the recommendation for the intended purpose. Then scrub the surface and rinse thoroughly with water. In hot and dry weather, the detergent may dry – water (soak) the facade before applying Utomhustvätt and therefore wash smaller sections at a time.
Note that Beckers Utomhustvätt can have an etching effect on glass. Therefore, cover windows carefully before washing the facade. Surfaces exposed to mold should be cleaned with Beckers Alg & Mögeltvätt, diluted according to the recommendation for the intended purpose. Rinse thoroughly with water. A high-pressure washer can also be used to water and rinse the surface; remember to direct the jet along the facade, not straight at the surface, to prevent dirt and water from being forced into the facade. When maintenance washing painted surfaces, they should be in such good condition that they do not immediately absorb water during cleaning (a little water always penetrates). If the surfaces are in such poor condition that they absorb water, i.e., the surfaces become dark, we recommend repainting. Always start cleaning from the bottom up. Use municipal water pressure when washing wooden facades. Our recommendation is that cleaning agents should always be rinsed off thoroughly.
Important
Stir before use! The surface must be dry when painting, max 16% moisture content. Do not paint on sun-heated surfaces, or if there is a risk of rain or dew within 1-2 hours after finishing painting. When spray painting, use a filtering half-mask against solid and liquid particles (FFP2). For surfaces previously treated with distemper (slamfärg) or linseed oil paint, we recommend that you use the same type of paint. Surfaces treated with stain should be primed before painting with Perfekt Fasad Plus.
