FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What surfaces is the product suitable for?
CombiColor® Wrought Iron is perfect for wrought iron, fences, gates, railings, metal furniture, tools and other iron and metal objects both indoors and outdoors.
How long does the paint/product last?
When applied correctly, CombiColor® Wrought Iron provides long-lasting protection for many years. It withstands weather, wind and UV radiation, making it ideal for outdoor use.
What does vapour permeable mean?
CombiColor® Wrought Iron forms a dense, protective film with a hammer finish that provides excellent rust protection. The product is specifically developed to protect metal and iron against corrosion.
How much do I need?
Coverage varies depending on the porosity of the substrate. Generally, 1 litre covers approximately 10-12 m² per coat. Calculate the surface area and plan for 1-2 coats depending on the substrate.
What temperature can I paint/apply in?
Apply CombiColor® Wrought Iron at temperatures between +10°C and +25°C. Avoid painting in direct sunlight, rain or high humidity. The surface must be dry.
Do I need to prime?
On a clean, rust-free surface, CombiColor® Wrought Iron can be applied directly. On a rusty or corroded surface, pre-treatment with an anti-corrosion primer is recommended for the best results.
Is the product environmentally friendly?
CombiColor® Wrought Iron is developed with the environment and safety in mind. Check the product data sheet for specific environmental information and handling instructions.
Can I paint/apply it myself or do I need a painter?
The product is user-friendly and can be applied by both DIY enthusiasts and professional painters. Follow the instructions for the best results.
Pre-treatment
Before painting, the surface must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, loose rust and old flaking paint. Clean the surface thoroughly with a suitable cleaning agent. Remove loose rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. On heavily corroded surfaces, a more thorough pre-treatment with an anti-corrosion primer is recommended. Lightly sand glossy surfaces for better adhesion. The surface must be completely dry before painting begins. Cover adjacent surfaces that are not to be painted.
Application
Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply CombiColor® Wrought Iron with a brush, roller or sprayer in even coats. Work systematically across the surface to avoid missed spots. The hammer finish develops during drying. Apply 1-2 coats depending on the substrate and desired coverage, with an appropriate drying time between coats according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually 4-6 hours). Avoid application in direct sunlight or at temperatures below +10°C. Keep the surface free from rain and moisture during drying. Clean tools with a suitable solvent immediately after use. Full curing is achieved after approximately 7 days.
