Noxyde® Plus is a corrosion-protecting and sealing elastomeric paint that is optimal for the protection and renovation of metal roofs. After 50 years of success, a newly developed formula is now being launched with a dirt-repellent finish and good color stability.

Product description

The new Plus variant is also zinc-free and meets BASTA's highest criteria. With the same high adhesion and its lasting elasticity, permanent protection is achieved that follows the movements of the substrate during continuous temperature fluctuations without cracking or peeling.

With a newly developed zinc-free corrosion protection, the protection of all metal surfaces is ensured, even those slightly rusty or with depleted zinc coating, aluminum, copper, or previously painted surfaces. Its high-build character is suitable for sealing, e.g., leaking seams. A Noxyde coating is non-slip to walk on, which increases safety when working on steep roofs, and with the waterborne technology, there is no risk of unpleasant solvent odors via, e.g., the ventilation system. Noxyde can be applied directly to bare metal, galvanized or manually derusted (St3) surfaces, aluminum, copper, or firmly adhering existing paint layers.

Loosely adhering or worn-out paint layers (Plastisol, etc.) are removed by ultra-high-pressure water blasting (> 200 MPa) or chemical paint stripper.

New factory-coated sheet metal (polyester type) must be alkaline washed and matted. PVDF coatings must be primed with PVDF-Primer. Noxyde is applied in 2-3 layers by airless high-pressure spraying for a total film thickness of 350 μm.

silane-modified acrylic binder.

PROPERTIES
200% elasticity, very good adhesion to most surfaces, effective zinc-free
corrosion protection (equivalent to 1,248 hours of accelerated salt spray test according to ISO
9227:2017) as well as sealing.

RECOMMENDED USE

Corrosion protection of steel structures, cisterns, and containers or moving substrates such as steel cables and thin sheet metal (e.g., metal roofs and metal facades). Can be applied to ferrous metal, metallized (galvanized) metal, aluminum, copper, etc.

RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS

For optimal corrosion protection, application in two layers to at least 350
μm total dry film thickness is recommended. Noxyde Plus can be thinned with up to 25% water and
applied in very thin layers, 100 μm wet / 20 μm dry, for use as a
bonding primer on smooth surfaces. Maximum recommended wet film thickness: 600 μm

How long does the paint/product last?

What does diffusion-open mean?
NOXYDE® PLUS forms a dense film that protects against water and moisture while providing excellent corrosion protection. The product is specifically developed for metal roofs and facades.

How much do I need?
Consumption varies depending on the porosity and condition of the substrate. Generally, 1 liter covers approximately 4-6 m² per coat. Calculate the surface area and plan for 2 coats for the best results.

What temperature can I paint/apply in?
Apply NOXYDE® PLUS at temperatures between +10°C and +25°C. Avoid painting in direct sunlight, rain, or high humidity. The surface must be dry.

Do I need to prime?
On clean, rust-free sheet metal, NOXYDE® PLUS can be applied directly. On rusty or corroded sheet metal, pre-treatment with an anti-corrosion primer is recommended for the best results.

Is the product environmentally friendly?
NOXYDE® PLUS is developed with consideration for the environment and safety. Check the product data sheet for specific environmental information and handling instructions.

Can I paint/apply it myself or do I need a painter?
The product can be applied by both DIYers and professional painters. For larger roofs or complex projects, professional help is recommended for safety reasons.

Pre-treatment

Before painting, the surface must be clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, loose rust, and old peeling paint. Clean the surface thoroughly with a suitable detergent. Remove loose rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. On heavily corroded surfaces, sandblasting or other mechanical cleaning is recommended. Prime if necessary with a suitable anti-corrosion primer. The surface must be completely dry before painting begins. Cover adjacent surfaces that are not to be painted.

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply NOXYDE® PLUS with a brush, roller, or sprayer in even coats. Work systematically over the surface to avoid missed spots. Apply 2 coats for optimal protection, with appropriate drying time between coats according to the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid application in direct sunlight or at temperatures below +10°C. Keep the surface free from rain and moisture during drying. Clean tools with a suitable solvent immediately after use. Follow safety regulations when working on roofs.
