Robust deck stain that can be used down to 0°C.
Herregård Terrassebeis Oljebaserad is a solvent-based stain for outdoor use on decks and garden furniture made of impregnated wood. It contains pigments and UV stabilizers that protect against degradation from sunlight, as well as film preservatives against mold. Durable, penetrates well, and prevents cracking. Can also be used on larch (1 coat).

How to do it
Pre-treatment
The surface must be clean and dry. New impregnated wood should dry for a few weeks up to 2–3 months. Rinse and brush away impregnation residues. Clean with Gjøco Terasstvätt and let dry thoroughly. Gray, weathered surfaces should be wire-brushed or sanded down to fresh wood – loose splinters and gray wood prevent penetration and can cause peeling.
Application
Mix cans with different batch numbers before use. Apply with a sponge, roller, or brush along the entire length of the board, 2–3 boards at a time. New decks: 1 coat. Decks over 1 year old with absorbent surfaces: up to 2 coats. Older, worn decks: up to 3 coats. The stain must penetrate – avoid film formation. Wipe off excess with a lint-free cloth. Larch is always treated with only 1 coat.
Storage & waste disposal
Store upright, dry, and frost-free. Liquid stain must be taken to an approved collection point for hazardous waste. Empty, clean, and dry packaging should be taken to an approved recycling facility.

The product is developed for decks and garden furniture made of pressure-impregnated wood outdoors. It also works on larch with 1 coat. It is not suitable for painted or lacquered surfaces.
Can I choose the color?
Yes! The stain is supplied as Base A, C, or yellow transparent and is tinted to the desired color. See our color chart for available shades. Use the same batch number on the same surface to avoid color variations.
How long does the stain last?
The service life depends on exposure, wood type, and number of coats. The oil-based formula provides deep penetration and long-term protection – generally longer than water-based alternatives in demanding climates.
How many coats do I need?
New decks: 1 coat. Decks over 1 year old with absorbent surfaces: 2 coats. Older, worn decks (over 3 years): up to 3 coats. Larch always max 1 coat. Estimate approx. 6–10 m² per liter per coat.
What temperature can I apply it in?
Down to 0 °C – unique to this product! Low temperatures result in longer drying times. Avoid application in high humidity and ensure no rain is expected for the first 24 hours. The product is rain-resistant after just 1 hour.
Do I need to prime?
No, Herregård Terrassebeis Oljebaserad acts as both a primer and a finish on clean, dry, pressure-impregnated wood. Apply in thin coats and let each coat dry before applying the next.
Is the product environmentally friendly?
The product is solvent-based and is classified as hazardous waste in liquid form. Use white spirit for thinning and cleaning. Choose the right amount to minimize waste and take leftovers to an approved collection point.
Can I apply it myself or do I need a professional painter?
You can easily apply it yourself using a sponge, roller, or brush. Follow the pre-treatment instructions carefully and do a test patch first – this will ensure the color turns out the way you want it.
