-The wall must be solid and clean, with no loose wallpaper flakes or filler dust.

-If you have not removed all old layers of wallpaper, which is recommended, it is a good idea to prime the wall with an isolating/blocking paint. You do this to reduce the risk of the old wallpaper bubbling under the new wallpaper. Suitable paint is Sigma Isotop Primer or Jotun's primer for wallpaper. Once painted, sand lightly and wash with sugar soap.

-Where applicable, prime the wall, preferably white. The entire wall must be the same shade if the wallpaper is of the type in point 3 above.
